AIDS/HIV CONTROL PROJECT

SELIAN AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME

The Selian AIDS Control Programme is a comprehensive and patient-centered initiative dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of HIV/AIDS. The programme is designed to provide accessible, confidential and high quality care to individuals and families affected by HIV  while also working to reduce new infections within the community.

At the core of the programme are HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) services which offer safe and confidential testing accompanied by professional pre- and post-tests counseling. These services empower individuals with knowledge of their status and guide them on the next steps whether for prevention or treatment. For those diagnosed with HIV the programme ensures immediate enrollment into care and provides antiretroviral therapy (ART) to help patients live long healthy lives while significantly reducing the risk of transmission.

The programme also places strong emphasis on continuous care and support including regular medical follow ups, viral load monitoring, adherence counseling and management of opportunistic infections. Patients receive holistic care that addresses both physical and emotional well being helping them maintain a good quality of life.

A key component of the programme is the Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission (PMTCT) service which supports pregnant women living with HIV throughout pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding. This service plays a vital role in ensuring that babies are born HIV-free and that mothers receive the care they need.

Beyond the hospital setting the programme actively engages in community outreach and education, raising awareness about HIV prevention, stigma reduction and the importance of early testing. Through partnerships, campaigns and health education sessions, the programme works to build an informed and supportive community.

Through its integrated approach combining medical care, education and community engagement the Selian AIDS Control Programme remains committed to improving lives, reducing the spread of HIV and contributing to a healthier future for all.
